Assigning Tolerance Groups to a CW Material

Use

You can use a tolerance group with a CW material to enable checks that the parallel quantities actually entered during goods movements fall in a defined range of deviation from the planned conversion. By using a tolerance group you can prevent or reduce the amount of unrealistic entries made by users.

In the plausibility check compares the values entered for the logistics quantity and the parallel quantity with the planned conversion factor defined in the material master for the base unit of measure and parallel unit of measure. If the deviation exceed the percentage variance defined for the tolerance group, it issues a message is issued as assigned for the tolerance group level.

Prerequisites

You have defined tolerance groups in Customizing for CWM. You make this setting under, Start of the navigation path CWM Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Define Catch Weight Tolerance Groups End of the navigation path.

Activities

On the basic data screen in the material master, you can assign one tolerance group to a CW material.

Example

Example 1

For the CW material “pig half”, you have defined the base unit of measure as piece and the parallel unit of measure as kilogram. The expected weight of a piece is 75 kg, that is the planned conversion from the base unit of measure to the parallel unit of measure is 1:75.

You have assigned a tolerance group to the CW material “pig half”, in which the four tolerance levels (two lower and two upper tolerance limits) have the following values when they are not reached and when they are exceeded: Error message > 25%, warning > 20% for lower and upper tolerance limits.

In a purchase order made to your vendor, you order 10 pig halves with a planned weight of 750 kilograms. However, your supplier delivers 10 pig halves with a total weight of 907.5 kilograms.

The percentage variance between the quantity ordered from the supplier and the quantity delivered is 21%.

The system therefore issues an warning message after you have entered the value 10 PC for the logistics quantity and 907.5 kilograms for the parallel quantity.

Example 2

The same values apply as in example 1. However, when entering your goods receipt you accidentally enter the parallel quantity value as 9075 kilograms. In this case, the variance between the values entered in the system and the plan conversion is 1110% As the value you have entered for the parallel quantity exceeds the highest tolerance level (in this case 25%), the system issues an error message. You must correct the value before you can proceed with the process.

The same values apply as in example 1. However, when entering your goods receipt you accidentally enter the parallel quantity value as 8500 kilograms. In this case, the variance between the values entered in the system and the plan conversion is 1033.33%. As the value you have entered for the parallel quantity exceeds the highest tolerance level (in this case 25%), the system issues an error message. You must correct the value before you can proceed with the process.
